Amelia Island Long Weekend Getaway
During 2020 we found ourselves needing to escape, even just for a few days. We wanted to go to the beach even though we knew the weather may not be the best with the time we were going (September). I found the cutest airbnb that was walking distance to the beach and it wasn't far from downtown. It is pet friendly.
You can find the airbnb here
We arrived around 3:00 pm on Wednesday, got settled in the airbnb, and started planning our evening plans. We decided to go to Timotis Seafood Shack and boyyyyyy was it delicious. Bobby got fried shrimp and I got the lobster roll. We were both so happy with our meals. After dinner, we walked downtown and stopped in Nana Teresas Bake Shop for dessert and picked up a dog cookie for Nova. They had a lot of different options to choose from, but I went with some macaroons and they were some of the best I have ever had. Once we got back to our sweet Nova girl we took a stroll on the beach. It was Nova's first time at the beach and we learned she was not a fan.
After a great start to our vacay, we woke up ready to keep the fun going. We ate at Ms. Carolyn's Restaurant for breakfast. The service was great, but the food was average. It is a good option if you want more of a small town feel. Straight to the beach we went after breakfast. We were so happy the sun was out, but it was sooo windy and we were being pelted with sand. All we could do was laugh, soak in the sun ,and listen to the sound of the waves (while being blasted to a point of it almost hurting). Nova barked every time someone walked by, but she was a trooper. For lunch, we dropped Nova off at the house and walked to the nearby restaurant, The Sandbar & Kitchen. It was decent, I wouldn't say it is a must stop, but if you need a quick bite it is a good option. The afternoon consisted of reading and relaxing until dinner time came along . It seemed like a perfect night for pizza. Townies Pizzeria is where we ended up. It was fast and delicious, so I definitely recommend if you want a pizza one night.
Early start for us on our second day, so we stopped at Amelia Island Coffee for a breakfast sandwich and yummy coffee. They were very busy when we went, so it must be a local favorite. After breakfast, Bobby, Nova, and I went to Egans creek greenway for a nice morning walk. It was peaceful, but also eerie because I thought an alligator could come out at any time to eat us. Since it started to rain, we went back to the airbnb for some reading and relaxing with some leftover pizza in hand. Later on that day we played putt putt at Gregor MacGregor's Mini Links & Drinks for a fun little date night. Cantina Louie was where we went for dinner. Of course I went for the marg right way. Bobby had chicken fajitas and I had a fajita quesadilla. Delicious dinner with a fun atmosphere, what more can you ask for?
Starting the day with a morning walk on the beach was a lovely start. It was surprisingly a little chilly. Bobby and I then went to the Beach Diner which was very tasty, so it is a great place if you need breakfast options. Our activity for the day was more walking, but around the neighborhood and little park area. Lunch was just leftovers and snacks since breakfast filled us up. For dinner, we went to Salt Life Food Shack where I had one of the best crunch rolls that I have ever had. Bobby had the pan seared chicken pasta and he said it was tasty. The only downfall was the wait and service was slow, but the food made up for that. We stopped at DeNucci's to end the night on a sweet note.
Feeling refreshed and happy we got to spend some time together without regular life and work stresses, we drove home on Sunday morning.
