Voyage Atlanta Magazine Interview

Can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today. You can include as little or as much detail as you’d like.

Being naturally creative, I have always used this talent as a way to relieve everyday stress. While I initially dabbled in content creation during my college years, it was only in recent times that I decided to pursue it more seriously, leveraging it as a source of income. As a stay at home mom, it gives me the flexibility that I need. I have the freedom to create whenever I choose without the pressure of meeting deadlines. Using my platform to share style tips, home items, mental health, and life with kids brings me joy and fulfills my purpose.

After earning a degree in business management with a minor in fashion marketing, I began my career at a textile start-up, where I had the opportunity to collaborate closely with our PR contractor. This experience provided me with valuable insights into marketing and PR. I firmly believe that the most effective way to acquire knowledge is through practical experience. Despite my passion for my work and continuous learning, I reached a point where I realized that the company culture was toxic and I had stopped growing professionally. At that time, I was expecting my first child. I had to decide between continuing to work while sacrificing time with my baby or choosing to prioritize raising my little one.

Now here I am with two littles, managing a household, and creating content that brings me joy. Collaborating with various brands and companies is an exciting part of my work. Through these partnerships, I have the opportunity to craft engaging content that showcases their products in a creative and authentic way. I also produce content that offers a glimpse into my life as a mother who has a passion for fashion and home decor. I have never been happier.

Has it been a smooth road? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?

I have struggled with balance and saying no. I learned that it is critical to set boundaries and learn to say no. In the beginning of my job, I had coworkers take advantage of me for being younger. I was working a ridiculous amount of hours without appropriate compensation. It took a long time to put my foot down and set boundaries. When I established my boundaries, it improved my desire to work and actually enjoy it.

Something I still struggle with is finding a proper balance between house work, social events, child care, and hobbies. My number one job is taking care of my children, everything else comes after that, but they are also important. Everyday is different and full of activities. I try to remind myself everyday that as long as my children are taken care of and feel loved then I have had a successful day.

Lastly, when it comes to my platform it is hard not to acknowledge my following size. I am considered a nano influencer because I have under 10K followers. I have learned not to focus on who is following me but why. Creating meaningful and fulfilling content has become my goal. Making sure I enjoy what I do and having fun is what is important to me. I will continue to do what I am doing and if I grow, great.

We’d love to learn more about your work. What do you do, what do you specialize in, what are you known for, etc. What are you most proud of? What sets you apart from others

Regardless of the subject, I consistently remain authentic and transparent. My life's mission is to help others, so if sharing my experiences or insights can benefit someone, I am content. This quality sets me apart from others. I engage in this not only for myself but also to support individuals who might be struggling.

Sharing my fashion finds, deals, and style tips has always been a passion of mine. Recently, I've broadened my scope to include aspects of lifestyle, offering insights into my experiences as a mother of two and how I navigate challenges and obstacles.  I also take pleasure in occasionally showcasing DIY projects and seasonal decorations.

How do you define success?

Every day, I express gratitude to God for guiding me to my current position in life. Reflecting on my life at this moment, I consider myself successful. I am content with my current situation, finding joy in my daily activities and having fun. I am not concerned about who will look after my children or whether my boss is pleased with my work.

For me, success is not about wealth or the extent of my social media following, but about the capacity to build genuine connections with others. My primary goal is to assist people in overcoming their challenges, whether it's related to motherhood or mastering the art of styling a blazer.
