Helpful Readings for Pre-Pregnancy and Pregnancy

Pre-pregnancy

The book “Taking Charge of Your Fertility” is a great book for preparing for your journey to getting pregnant. I followed the steps and advice they provided on getting pregnant. I fully believe that it helped me. This book is even great for young women who just want to learn more about their bodies and cycle. I found it very informative and interesting even if I wasn’t planning on getting pregnant right away.

While Pregnant:

The book “What to Expect When Expecting” seems to be a very popular and general book for all mommas-to-be.

This book is so informative and is perfectly organized by trimester sections and the chapters are by months. They include chapters on the intro to pregnancy, each month of pregnancy (what happens in that month), labor & delivery, and postpartum.

You can either read the month you are in or read ahead. I read ahead just so that I had an idea of what I was experiencing and what I was going to experience.

Moms on call:

A family member sent me this book and it is a great read. It is not a long read that is divided into 6 sections/ chapters. The topics that are covered are The Basics, Common Illnesses, Feeding, Sleep, Typical Days, and Safety. I have been using their advice on sleeping and the typical days schedule to keep us on track. The schedule has been very useful and it helps keep us well rested (as much as you can be with a newborn).

Journaling:

The journal I got is on Etsy and they have matching baby journals too. I found journaling fun while pregnant even if my symptoms sucked. Time really does fly by and I am glad that I recorded how I was feeling and the different milestones I hit while pregnant especially with my first baby.

Apps:

Flo- great for tracking your cycle, I used this while trying to get pregnant

Baby Center- awesome for pregnancy journey and even after
