Time to be Strict on Spendings

This month I am starting the new year by attempting to save more money, which means to spend less money on items that are not a necessity. Things that I consider a necessity are bills, groceries, baby and dog items (food, meds), and household items (cleaning supples, paper towels, etc).

There are a few reasons I am saving. 1. To put money in the savings account. 2. Some house projects. 3. Travel

I was put to the test on January 2 when I had some errands to run. I had to return a shirt at TJ Maxx, return some items at Target, and go to Costco. I also stopped in Hobby Lobby because I had a gift card and then went to two antique shops to look for some home items that I have been in search for.

TJ Maxx is always a weakness of mine. When I walked in I saw the cutest Valentine sweater, but then I said "No Erin, put it back!" and proceeded to the checkout line to return the shirt. I left with money back!!!!

Hobby Lobby was crazy with people due to the 90% off of Christmas items. There was a lady that had 4 carts full of items and another with 3. I left with nothing because I didn't find anything that spoke to me.

Next, I returned items at Target and got my household items. I did get a cute pink pullover, but I used a gift card for this. I even said no to the Starbucks in the Target, like who am I?

The antique shops in Alpharetta were cute and I saw some things to consider in the first one, but the second was overpriced. I enjoy browsing though, it helps give me some new ideas for the house.

I finally made it to Costco for chicken, beef, toilet paper, paper towels, and a book. All in all I did amazing that day. I proved that I could survive even if I didn't buy the things I wanted.

While I was out I did not buy breakfast or lunch. I made sausage biscuits for the week so it is easy to grab and go if needed. I ate leftovers for lunch which is a win because I used to hate leftovers.

I plan on doing a review of how the rest of January goes. I do need to get some birthday party supplies for Bradley, but other than that there isn't much that I can think of that I need this month. It is going to be tough, but I can do this! I can do hard things!
