Monthly Madness- December 2022

Writer's picture: Erin SzochErin Szoch

December, the last month of the year. A year to start reflecting and checking off the 2022 new years resolutions. I am going to use this month to review the past year and start planning my next year.

This year we are finally taking the outside Christmas decor serious! We always decorate the inside, but never get to the outside, not this year! I am talking lights on the house, projectors, bush lights, and a Santa sled.

I did most of my Christmas shopping on Black Friday and Cyber Monday. I love finding good deals. If you need some ideas you can go to my Like To Know It. I may have went a little overboard for Bradley, but I am so excited for his first Christmas. We are going to have family come with us Christmas Eve to our church service and then get dinner. On Christmas day, we will begin our first of many Christmas traditions. What are you favorite traditions?

We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy, Healthy New Year. May you spend time with your loved ones and make joyous memories. Below is our Christmas card for this year. We thought it would be a fun tradition to start using our Halloween costumes and photos for the Christmas card.

Verse of the Month

"Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins." 1 Peter 4:8

Love is such an important part of our lives. To feel love and give love are two different things, but both feel good. We are able to love because He loved us first. Love is the greatest commandment. Faith and hope will not be necessary in our eternal glory in heaven, but love will remain forever because “God is love.” Love exists “above all,” because God is “above all.”

The key to love is allowing Him to love us and to love Him back. His love will guide us on how to love others while accepting love from them as well. It is not dependent on feelings. It can be given whether it is accepted or not. And when one loves another with the love of the Father, it is considered by God as love for the Father.

If one truly loves God and people, it is hard to sin against God or people. We can only sin when we stop our love for God. What sins can be committed when one is in a conscious state of loving God and each other with deep love? Can you hate while you love? No. Can you lie, cheat, or steal when you believe in God? No. To believe in him is to love him. To love him is to obey him out of joy and peace.
